[kiddies: Benjamin]

I have the best job in the world ... no, really.  It is the BEST job in the WORLD.  And one of the best things is meeting up with past clients ... and snapping their pics again.

I had met Josh and Melissa this past summer with Josh's family shoot .., and then Melissa called me up and booked me for her family photos.  LOVE that.

So when I got a recently got a Facebook message from her, I was pumped.  She was wanting some pics of little Benjamin.

It had snowed that morning - and I was SO hoping that we could get outside ... but than, in true Vancouver fashion, it began to rain.  Wet slush and nine month old babies don't go so well together ...

So ... the warm, cozy nursery seemed like a much nicer choice *smile* ...

... and with Ben's beautiful baby rolls ... my shutter was going, going, going.  Sure - we had to bribe him a bit ... but Melissa knew that with a few trinkets, he'd stay put.  For a few moments, anyway *grin*.

We decided that Benjamin could handle a quick wardrobe change ... and somehow, he got even cuter.  If that was at all possible ...

... couldn't you just put him in your pocket and take him home??

Melissa (and Josh!) - again ... returned business is the best compliment I could ever receive.  Thank you so much for letting me be a part of these moments.  Seeing your little guy grow up ... really does make my job, the BEST job in the world!

[event: Chloe's First Birthday]

You've seen this family before - a few times, in fact.

I photographed Nick & Jamie's wedding, did some newborn pics as well when their little girl arrived ... and I can hardly believe that a year has passed and was asked to photograph little Chloe's first birthday as well.  It's such a great idea - giving photography as a gift for a party like this.  Mom's have a hard enough time trying to get through a first birthday, nevermind having to document the whole thing too.

Little Chloe was all decked out ... top hat and all - all creations by Jamie (you can check her site out here).

It was a truly "girly" party, with the theme of "Beauty and the Beast" - soon to be Chloe's favourite movie if her mom has anything to do with it *grin*.    All the party colours lit up Nick & Jamie's basement suite, which was full of little ones playing, laughing, crying, falling ... what else would you expect?

Now Jamie really did outdo herself ... each little guest got a hand-made tutu, party hat and hairclips, chosen in a colour by the mom.  Now - my little girl was included on the invite list ... and I chose black.   Oh my word.  I was in love with all the princesses prancing around ...

The cake was "Belle", of course.  Jamie made it, of course.  And I almost cried when Chloe got her fingers in it ... it was just too pretty.  But Chloe was a little lady - hardly attacking the cake, but definitely enjoying every mouthful.

There was an abundance of gifts ...

And I did my best to get a couchful of 1 year olds to stay still for more than 3 seconds ... All the other moms loved the idea too *grin* ... there must've been a million flashes going off.  How those kids aren't blind, I'll never know *wink*.

Happy birthday, wee Chloe.  You're going to be a BIG sister soon - so enjoy being the baby for a little while longer *grin*.    Have a spectacular year, beautiful girl!

[newborn: Caleb Daniel]

There is SO much going on with RedHanded Photography right now ... I've been working like a crazy-person on my NEW website.  Man-oh-man ... am I excited about this!!  But the details are making me cross-eyed ... so I'm trying to be patient and hold off launching it before it's just perfect.  We shall see ...

Speaking of perfect, do you remember Ben & Vanessa?  A completely beautiful couple, and now a beautiful threesome - and I was privileged enough to be chosen to take new little Caleb Daniel's first family pics ...

Oh the wrinkly goodness ...

I arrived at their stunning town-home, I climbed the three sets of stairs to their sunlit bedroom where Ben was laying with his new son.  The room was full of soft music, and it was warm ... very warm.  Perfect for a new little guy ...

One of my favourite parts of the shoot was when little Caleb needed a diaper change ... Watching Ben and Vanessa was just the SWEETest thing.  They already had designated jobs ... Ben was to quickly change Caleb, while Vanessa sang "Jesus Loves Me" while playing a rainstick.  Yup.  You read correctly ... a RAINstick.  Their traveling adventures had paid off - and Caleb was completely soothed by the calming sounds ...

Being a local photographer herself, Vanessa was more than able to take stunning pics of her little guy.  But as all of us moms know, the trick is to get OURSELVES in the photo.  That never seems to happen.  So, I made sure that this mother-son team was completely documented.  It almost made me want to have another one ... almost.

... I love taking these kinds of pics.  But there needed to be a few posed ones too *smile* ...

And a few family ones ... of course.

The entire shoot took place in their new home ... and it seemed as though Caleb just knew that's where he was.  The hour-and-a-bit just flew by ... And the greatest compliment?  When the shoot was finished Ben looked at me and said, "Thanks - we really needed that."  The session was a perfect break from the hustle of the last few days ... Wow.  That was the best thing he could've ever said ...

Ben and Vanessa ... what a beautiful couple you are - and now a perfect little family.  I have no doubts that you are going to be incredible parents to wee Caleb and I wish you much rest, much joy and much wisdom as you raise him.  Thank you so much for entrusting me to be a part of such an incredible time in your lives ... be blessed.
