[newborn: Mac]

One NEVER knows what they're going to get with a newborn photoshoot.  Babies have their own little ideas right from the get go - but I think capturing their little personalities is so fun.  Whether they're strong willed, calm and quiet or even letting loose with their little lungs - parents love to have images that they can look back on and think, "yup - THAT's exactly what it was like ... ".

Enter: Jer, Shar, and Mac.

This little family of three is still in it's very newest of stages - and as soon as I heard of his arrival, I made sure to get in touch with this amazing couple ... I couldn't wait to get my hands on this new little bundle.

You may remember Jer and Shar from their maternity shoot - one of my most favourite to date - and I knew that this laid-back couple would want pics of their new little guy done in a way that really represented them.

So with my brain in high-gear - I headed to their place, set up a little spot and turned and said, "If you have a special blanket, heirloom ... toy.  Now's the time to have it in the shot."  And that's when Jere's eyes lit up.

His guitar.

This isn't just ANY guitar ... and Jere's cool with calling it a "she" (I asked *grin*).  This guitar was a gift - one that had to be hunted down because they weren't being made anymore.  She's a beauty, but with Mac beside her - she became more of a big sister for him to lean on, rather than stealing the show for herself.  I mean ... seriously ... little Mac.  He's just the cutest.

... and - we also put him in the case.  He was NOT interested in sleeping, or lying still, or being on his tummy.  He didn't want to keep his head down, eyes closed, legs tucked ... He's Irish ... and even at less than a week old and under 6lbs, he wasn't going to be pursuaded. *grin*.

After doing a few "portrait" style pics, I took some candids of this little guy.  He was so yummy and calm.  And then - he decided he had enough.  He was hungry and time had run out ...

Jere and Shar choose to not be a part of the photo session - they really wanted to have this be just about him and have images that reflected his newness.  But I've already told them - we've got to get together again and have a family shot.  At least one.

Maybe two *grin*.

Jer, Shar and Mac.  What a privilege it's been getting to know you and being a part of this incredible time in your lives ... thank you for letting me be a part of it.  I loved every second of it, and I wish you must rest, wisdom and laughter.   That sounds Irish, doesn't it *grin*??

[family portraits: The Bjorndal Family]

I love taking photos of the same people over and over.  It means a) that they like what I've done in the past and b) that we are a good match.

Casey and Christa have had a couple of shoots with me over the last few months.  The first one was a maternity shoot, and the second, a newborn.  Imagine how thrilled I was when I got an email asking for a family shoot ... love that!!

So, off to Fort Langley I went ... with my trusty camera.

Poor little Christianna had a sore tummy ... she had spurts of tears and consoling from her mommy.  And in between those sad little faces - there were many lovely family moments.

It was a perfectly perfect day ... and Casey and Christa are really and truly the most beautiful people.  I dare you to try and get a bad pic of them.  Trust me.  You can't.

They are loving parenthood.  All the sleepless nights, sore tummies, diaper rashes and spit up all melt away with a little smile, a coo and a cuddle.

Casey and Christa ... thank you again, so much, for choosing RedHanded Photography to take your special moments.  I've loved getting to know your beautiful little family and totally consider it a privilege to be capturing these images ...

[contest: Loony Shoots: Winner Revealed]

Houston, we have a ... winner.

Thank you to everyone who participated in my first-ever "Loony Shoots" photo contest.  The instructions were simple:  send me your most embarrassing, ridiculous, outrageous family photo ... and if chosen, you would win a 50% OFF COUPON for your next family photo shoot with RedHanded Photography ...

All of the entries were all highly entertaining (do your spouses know you sent these??? *grin*) - but one had me in TEARS of laughter.

The winner ...

*drumroll please*

Cara Straforelli with this entry ...

I love everything about this ... from the crying kids, to the Santa hat over the little boy's head, to the apparent "thumbs up" in the front row, to the mom being forced to drink from a sippy cup ... to the noose hanging in the background??  *GRIN*.

Congratulations, Cara.  Well deserved!!

And if you've maybe meant to get a booking, but haven't gotten around to it - or if you've mentioned it to me in passing, and nothing has been confirmed yet - I would love a chance to chat with you and make something happen.  Spring/summer bookings are at a premium and the only way to be fair is by having it first-come-first serve.  All bookings and / or enquiries can be made through my RedHanded Photography website HERE.

Thanks!

[engagement: Kin & Kristy]

Well, the photo season is simmering down.  And honestly - that's kinda sad for me. But with a pocketful of sunshine on a Saturday morning, we were in business.   Kin and Kristy were meeting me for their engagement session.

Kin and Kristy were a couple I met a few months ago - and I instantly liked them.  First off - they're pilots. BOTH of them.  How cool is that?  If any of you know me, you know that I pretty much sob during any take-off and any slight change in the "whirring" of the engine while in flight ... So these two are a bit like superheros to me ...

Of course, this just made them smile.

And smiling is something they're used to doing when together ... that's pretty clear.  When we met in Ladner, Kin was completely prepared - with up-to-the-minute weather updates and the knowledge of every nook and cranny it seemed.  I sure liked that ... must be a pilot thing.  No.  Wait.  I'm not a pilot ...

And he loved this place.  Growing up in Ladner had made our photoshoot a sentimental one for him, with him even knowing who's dock we were trespassing on ... *grin*.

And Kris - this was just a pretty place to her - but she listened to Kin's stories and smiled and laughed at the stories' endings.  Super cute - super fun.  Super couple.

With their wedding in April, this was a chance for us to get to know each other, to see how we work as a team.  And I can whole heartedly say, that THIS wedding is gonna be a good one.  Even though it will be small and intimate, it's going to be huge on family and knowing these two - full of good times.

And I can't WAIT to take their wedding pics in the airport hanger after the ceremony ... I just might lose sleep over that.  So thank YOU, Kin and Kris, for choosing RedHanded Photography.  It was a great, relaxing morning, and I can't WAIT for your special day...

For everyone else - I currently have three months booked for weddings in 2011 ... if you're interested in meeting your wedding with me, I would love a chance to get together and see if we're a fit.  Please contact me through my RedHanded Photography website HERE and click "contact".  Please include your wedding date.

Also - I am also taking bookings for 2011 for family portraits and events as well.

Thanks!
